Не последняя заслуга в том, что этот фильм стал шедевром, принадлежит игре Энтони Перкинса, который передаёт свои ощущения, страхи, мысли, оттенки характера — не только голосом, но и с помощью мимики и жестов. Атмосферу тревоги и нервозности также искусно дополняет саундтрек композитора Бернарда Херрманна.
